Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts required for the repair.
  • Park the vehicle on a flat surface, engage the parking brake, and disconnect the battery.

Tools Required:

  • Jack and jack stands
  • Lug wrench
  • Brake cleaner
  • Torque wrench
  • Socket set
  • C-clamp (for caliper piston retraction)
2. Remove Wheel
  • Use the lug wrench to loosen the lug nuts.
  • Lift the vehicle with a jack and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the lug nuts completely and take off the wheel.
3. Replace Brake Pads
  • Remove caliper bolts using the socket set.
  • Carefully slide the caliper off the rotor; support it using a bungee cord to avoid strain on the brake line.
  • Remove old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
  • Use the C-clamp to retract the caliper piston fully.
  • Install new brake pads into the caliper bracket.
  • Reattach the caliper over the new pads and tighten the caliper bolts to the manufacturer's torque specifications.
4. Inspect/Replace Brake Rotors (if necessary)
  • If rotors are damaged, remove them from the hub by unscrewing the retaining screws (if present) and pulling them off.
  • Clean the hub surface with brake cleaner and install new rotors if needed.
  • Ensure they are seated correctly on the hub.
5. Reinstall Wheel
  • Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle and then torque the lug nuts to the manufacturer’s specifications.
6. Final Check
  • Reconnect the battery.
  • Pump the brake pedal a few times to ensure proper brake engagement.
  • Test drive the vehicle to confirm that the grinding noise is resolved.
