Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
  • Relieve fuel system pressure by removing the fuel pump fuse and starting the engine until it stalls.
2. Access the Fuel Pump
  • For vehicles with a rear seat, remove the rear seat bottom cushion to access the fuel pump access panel.
    • Tools: Socket set, trim removal tool.
  • Unscrew the access panel to expose the fuel pump assembly.
3. Inspect and Replace Fuel Pump
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel pump.
  • Remove the fuel lines from the pump assembly using appropriate line disconnect tools.
  • Unscrew the fuel pump assembly from the tank and remove it.
  • Inspect the fuel pump for wear or damage.
  • Install the new fuel pump in reverse order:
    • Position the new pump in the assembly.
    • Reconnect the fuel lines securely.
    • Reattach the electrical connector.
    • Secure the assembly back to the fuel tank.
4. Reassemble and Test
  • Reinstall the access panel.
  • Reinstall the rear seat cushion (if applicable).
  • Reconnect the battery.
  • Install the fuel pump fuse.
  • Start the engine and check for leaks around the fuel pump area.
