Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, lug wrench, torque wrench, hammer, flathead screwdriver, and bearing puller.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and the parking brake is engaged.
2. Remove Wheel
  1. Loosen the lug nuts slightly while the vehicle is on the ground.
  2. Use the jack to lift the vehicle and place jack stands under the vehicle for safety.
  3. Completely remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.
3. Inspect Wheel Bearing
  1. Check for Play: With the wheel off, check for any play in the hub by grasping it at the 12 and 6 o'clock positions.
  2. Listen for Noise: Spin the hub to listen for any grinding or rough noises.
  3. Remove Hub Cover: If necessary, remove any hub covers or dust caps to access the bearing.
4. Replace Bearing (if necessary)
  1. Remove Brake Caliper: Unbolt the caliper and hang it using a bungee cord or wire to avoid stressing the brake line.
  2. Remove Brake Rotor: Unscrew and take off the brake rotor.
  3. Remove Hub Assembly: Unbolt the hub assembly using a suitable socket and remove it from the vehicle.
  4. Use Bearing Puller: Attach the bearing puller to the old bearing and carefully remove it from the hub.
  5. Install New Bearing: Press the new bearing into the hub using a bearing installer or appropriate tool until fully seated.
  6. Reassemble: Reverse the disassembly steps to reassemble the hub assembly, rotor, caliper, and wheel.
