Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack and jack stands, wheel chocks, lug wrench, brake cleaner, socket set, torque wrench.
  • Safety Warnings: Always engage the parking brake and wear safety glasses.
2. Remove Wheel
  1. Loosen the lug nuts with a lug wrench while the vehicle is on the ground.
  2. Lift the vehicle using a jack and secure it with jack stands.
  3. Completely remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.
3. Inspect and Replace Brake Pads
  1. Remove the caliper bolts using a socket set.
  2. Carefully slide the caliper off the rotor and suspend it using a wire hanger to avoid straining the brake line.
  3. Remove the old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
  4. Inspect the brake pads for wear (replace if less than 3mm thick).
  5. Apply brake grease to the backing plate of the new pads.
  6. Install the new brake pads into the caliper bracket.
4. Inspect and Replace Brake Rotors (if necessary)
  1. Check the rotors for scoring or warping using a straightedge.
  2. If warped or damaged, remove the rotor by unscrewing the retaining screws (if applicable).
  3. Install new rotors, ensuring they are clean and free of oil.
  4. Torque the rotor screws to the manufacturer's specifications.
5. Reassemble Components
  1. Slide the caliper back over the new brake pads.
  2. Reinstall caliper bolts and torque them to the manufacturer's specifications.
  3. Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  4. Lower the vehicle and fully tighten the lug nuts in a crisscross pattern to ensure even pressure.
