Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts needed for the repair.
  • Disconnect the vehicle battery to prevent electrical shorts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and safely supported.
2. Access Fuel Level Sending Unit
  • Remove the rear seat cushion or access panel (depending on the model) to reach the fuel sending unit.
  • Use a socket set to remove any bolts securing the access cover.
  • Carefully lift the access cover to expose the fuel pump and sending unit.
3. Inspect and Test Sending Unit
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel level sending unit.
  • Using a multimeter, test the resistance of the sending unit by measuring between the terminals. Resistance should change as the float moves.
  • If resistance is not changing, replace the fuel level sending unit.
4. Check Gauge Cluster
  • Remove the dashboard panel covering the instrument cluster using a screwdriver and trim removal tool.
  • Disconnect the wiring harness connected to the gauge cluster.
  • Inspect the printed circuit board for any damage or corrosion.
5. Reassemble and Test
  • Reconnect the gauge cluster wiring harness and secure the dashboard panel.
  • Reconnect the access cover for the fuel sending unit and secure it with bolts.
  • Reconnect the vehicle battery.
