Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools: Battery replacement tools (if needed), OBD-II scanner, multimeter.
  • Ensure the vehicle is in a secure location and not exposed to extreme conditions.
2. Testing Key Fob Battery
  • Open the key fob using a small flathead screwdriver or appropriate tool.
  • Remove the old battery carefully, noting the orientation (+/-).
  • Measure the battery voltage with a multimeter; it should be around the rated voltage (often 3V for CR2032 type batteries).
  • If the battery is low or dead, replace it with a new battery of the same type.
3. Reprogramming the Key Fob
  • Enter the vehicle and close all doors.
  • Insert the key into the ignition.
  • Turn the ignition to the "ON" position (do not start the engine) and then back to "OFF."
  • Repeat this process five times within 10 seconds. On the fifth turn, leave in the "ON" position.
  • Press any button on the key fob. The locks should cycle to indicate successful programming.
4. Inspecting the Receiver Module
  • Locate the receiver module, typically found in the front of the vehicle near the windshield.
  • Check for any loose connections, corrosion, or damage.
  • If damaged, replace the receiver module with a new one, ensuring proper connections.
5. Final Testing
  • After replacing the battery and/or reprogramming, test the key fob by pressing the unlock button.
  • If it still does not work, verify with a second key fob, if available, to isolate if the issue is key fob related or vehicle related.
