Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Park the vehicle on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Allow the vehicle to cool if it has been driven recently.
2. Inspect and Replace Shock Absorbers
  1. Lift the Vehicle

    • Use a jack to lift the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
    • Tools Required: Jack, jack stands.
  2. Remove Wheel

    • Take off the wheel on the affected corner to access the shock absorber.
    • Tools Required: Lug wrench.
  3. Remove Shock Absorber

    • Unbolt the top mount of the shock absorber (usually inside the trunk or under the hood).
    • Remove the lower mounting bolts connecting the shock to the suspension.
    • Carefully take out the shock absorber.
    • Tools Required: Socket set, ratchet.
  4. Install New Shock Absorber

    • Position the new shock absorber in place and secure it with bolts.
    • Torque specifications: Refer to service manual for specific torque values.
    • Reattach the top mount.
  5. Reinstall Wheel

    • Place the wheel back on and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
    • Lower the vehicle and then torque the lug nuts to the manufacturer’s specifications.
3. Inspect and Replace Suspension Bushings (if necessary)
  1. Check Bushings

    • Use a pry bar to check for play in the control arm bushings.
    • If worn, replace with new bushings.
  2. Remove and Replace

    • Remove the control arm or component that houses the bushings.
    • Use a bushing press or appropriate tools to remove the old bushings and install new ones.
