Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools: OBD-II scanner, mechanical oil pressure gauge, socket set, torque wrench, and a new oil filter if necessary.
  • Ensure the engine is cool to avoid burns and wear gloves for protection.
2. Check Oil Level
  • Remove the dipstick, wipe it clean, reinsert it, and remove it again to check the oil level.
  • If low, add the appropriate type and grade of oil as specified in the owner's manual.
3. Inspect for Leaks
  • Visually inspect the oil pan, valve covers, and seals for any signs of oil leakage.
  • Clean any spills and monitor for new leaks after the engine runs.
4. Replace Oil Filter and Oil (if necessary)
  • Drain Oil: Place a drain pan under the oil pan, remove the drain plug, and allow the old oil to drain completely.
  • Remove Oil Filter: Use an oil filter wrench to remove the old oil filter. Apply a small amount of new oil to the rubber gasket of the new filter before installing it.
  • Install New Filter: Screw the new filter in place and tighten it according to the manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Replace Drain Plug: Reinstall the drain plug and torque it to manufacturer specifications.
5. Test Oil Pressure
  • Remove the oil pressure sending unit and install the mechanical oil pressure gauge in its place.
  • Start the engine and observe the reading on the gauge. Compare it to the manufacturer's specified oil pressure range.
6. Reinstall Components
  • If the oil pressure is within specs, reinstall the oil pressure sending unit.
  • Dispose of old oil and filter properly.
