Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools: OBD-II scanner, multimeter, fuel pressure gauge, socket set, torque wrench.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is off.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Fuel Pump Replacement
  1. Access the Fuel Pump:

    • Remove the rear seat cushion if applicable to access the fuel pump access panel.
    • Unbolt and remove the access panel.
  2. Disconnect Fuel Lines:

    • Relieve fuel system pressure by removing the fuel pump fuse and running the engine until it stalls.
    • Disconnect the fuel lines using a line removal tool, ensuring to catch any spilled fuel in a container.
  3. Remove the Fuel Pump Assembly:

    • Disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel pump.
    • Unscrew the retaining ring that holds the fuel pump assembly in place.
    • Carefully lift out the fuel pump assembly from the tank.
  4. Install New Fuel Pump:

    • Replace the old fuel pump with a new one, ensuring to align it properly.
    • Secure the fuel pump assembly with the retaining ring, tightening it to manufacturer specifications (usually around 20-25 Nm).
  5. Reconnect Fuel Lines and Electrical Connections:

    • Reattach the fuel lines and ensure they are securely fastened.
    • Connect the electrical harness to the new fuel pump.
  6. Reassemble and Test:

    • Replace the access panel and secure it with bolts.
    • Reconnect the battery and replace the fuel pump fuse.
    • Turn the ignition to the "ON" position to prime the fuel system, then start the engine.
