Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts required.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shock.
  • Relieve fuel system pressure by removing the fuel pump fuse and starting the engine until it stalls.
2. Remove the Fuel Pump
  • Tools Required: Socket set, screwdrivers, fuel line disconnect tool.
  • Locate the fuel pump access panel (usually under the rear seat or trunk).
  • Remove the access panel screws and lift the panel to expose the fuel pump.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector and fuel lines from the pump, using a fuel line disconnect tool if necessary.
  • Unscrew the retaining ring securing the fuel pump assembly and carefully lift it out of the tank.
3. Inspect and Replace
  • Check the old fuel pump for damage, wear, or clogging.
  • Install the new fuel pump in the reverse order of removal:
    • Make sure to align the pump properly.
    • Replace the retaining ring, tightening it to manufacturer specifications (usually around 15-20 Nm).
    • Reconnect the fuel lines and electrical connector securely.
4. Reassemble and Test
  • Tools Required: Torque wrench (if applicable).
  • Replace the access panel and secure it with screws.
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Reinstall the fuel pump fuse.
  • Turn the ignition to the "ON" position a few times to prime the fuel system before starting the engine.
  • Start the vehicle and check for leaks around the fuel pump area.
