Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, screwdrivers, fuel pressure gauge, multimeter, OBD-II scanner, safety glasses, gloves.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
  • Relieve fuel system pressure by removing the fuel pump fuse and starting the engine until it stalls.
2. Access the Fuel Pump
  • Remove the rear seat cushion by pulling it up to expose the access panel.
  • Unscrew the access panel to reveal the fuel pump assembly.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector and fuel lines from the fuel pump assembly. Use a fuel line removal tool if necessary.
3. Remove the Old Fuel Pump
  • Unscrew the retaining ring holding the fuel pump assembly in place.
  • Carefully lift the fuel pump assembly out of the tank, taking care not to damage the fuel gauge float.
  • Remove the old fuel pump from the assembly by unscrewing it or unclipping it, depending on the model.
4. Install the New Fuel Pump
  • Install the new fuel pump into the assembly, ensuring it is secured properly.
  • Position the assembly back into the fuel tank and secure it with the retaining ring, making sure it is tightened to the manufacturer's specifications (typically around 30 Nm).
  • Reconnect the electrical connector and fuel lines, ensuring they are secure and correctly oriented.
5. Reassemble and Test
  • Replace the access panel and secure it with screws.
  • Reinstall the rear seat cushion.
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Start the engine and check for leaks around the fuel pump area.
  • Test drive the vehicle to ensure proper operation.
