Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Park the vehicle on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Use wheel chocks to prevent the vehicle from rolling.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent any electrical issues.

Tools Required:

  • Jack and jack stands
  • Lug wrench
  • Socket set
  • Torque wrench
  • Brake pad spreader tool
  • C-clamp or brake caliper tool
2. Remove the Wheel
  1. Loosen the lug nuts slightly while the vehicle is on the ground.
  2. Use the jack to lift the vehicle and secure it on jack stands.
  3. Remove the lug nuts completely and take off the wheel.
3. Remove the Brake Caliper
  1. Locate the caliper bolts and remove them using a socket.
  2. Carefully slide the caliper off the rotor. Do not let it hang by the brake line; use a bungee cord or rope to secure it to the suspension.
4. Replace the Brake Pads
  1. Remove the old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
  2. Use a brake pad spreader tool or C-clamp to compress the caliper piston back into the caliper housing.
  3. Place the new brake pads into the caliper bracket, ensuring they are seated correctly.
5. Reinstall the Brake Caliper
  1. Position the caliper over the new brake pads and rotor.
  2. Reinstall the caliper bolts and tighten them to the manufacturer's specifications (typically around 25-30 Nm).
  3. Ensure the caliper moves freely over the pads.
6. Reassemble the Wheel
  1. Place the wheel back onto the hub and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  2. Lower the vehicle from the jack stands.
  3. Torque the lug nuts to the manufacturer's specifications (usually 120 Nm).
