Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack and jack stands, lug wrench, socket set, torque wrench, brake cleaner, bungee cord or rope.
  • Park the vehicle on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent any electrical issues.
2. Remove Wheel
  • Loosen lug nuts slightly while the vehicle is on the ground.
  • Raise the vehicle using a jack and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the lug nuts completely and take off the rear wheel.
3. Remove Brake Caliper
  • Use a socket set to remove the caliper bolts.
  • Carefully slide the caliper off the rotor and support it using a bungee cord or rope to avoid strain on the brake line.
4. Replace Brake Pads
  • Remove the old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
  • Apply brake cleaner to clean the caliper bracket and rotor.
  • Install new brake pads in the caliper bracket, ensuring they are seated properly.
5. Inspect and Replace Rotors (if necessary)
  • If the rotors are worn or damaged, remove the rotor by unscrewing any retaining screws and sliding it off the wheel hub.
  • Install new rotors, securing them with the retaining screws if applicable.
6. Reinstall Brake Caliper
  • Compress the caliper piston using a caliper tool to make space for the new pads.
  • Reinstall the caliper over the new pads and secure it with the caliper bolts, tightening to manufacturer specifications (usually around 25-30 Nm).
7. Reinstall Wheel
  • Place the wheel back onto the hub and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle off the jack stands and torque the lug nuts to the manufacturer’s specifications (typically around 100-120 Nm).
8. Final Checks
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Pump the brake pedal several times to seat the brake pads against the rotors.
