Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts required for the repair.
  • Ensure the engine is cool before starting work.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent any electrical issues.
2. Drain Coolant
  • Place a drain pan under the radiator and open the drain valve to drain the coolant.
  • Dispose of the coolant properly according to local regulations.
3. Replace Faulty Components

A. Radiator Replacement (if applicable)

  • Remove the front grille and any panels obstructing access to the radiator.
  • Disconnect the upper and lower radiator hoses using a hose clamp tool.
  • Remove the mounting bolts for the radiator and lift it out.
  • Install the new radiator in reverse order, ensuring all hoses are securely attached.

B. Water Pump Replacement (if applicable)

  • Remove the serpentine belt by releasing tension from the tensioner.
  • Disconnect the water pump hoses.
  • Remove the mounting bolts and take out the old water pump.
  • Clean the mounting surface on the engine block.
  • Install the new water pump with a new gasket, torqueing the bolts to manufacturer specifications (typically around 10-15 Nm).

C. Hose Replacement (if applicable)

  • Cut or remove any damaged hoses.
  • Install new hoses and secure with hose clamps.
4. Refill Coolant
  • Refill the cooling system with the appropriate type of coolant (BMW-approved).
  • Start the engine and allow it to reach operating temperature, checking for leaks.
5. Reassemble
  • Replace any panels or components removed during the repair.
  • Reconnect the battery.
