Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Multimeter, socket set, jumper wire, wire brush, safety gloves.
  • Ensure the vehicle is in park (or neutral) and the parking brake is engaged. Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shock.
2. Clean Battery Connections
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Remove the battery terminals (negative first, then positive).
    2. Clean the terminals and cable ends with a wire brush to remove any corrosion.
    3. Reconnect the battery terminals (positive first, then negative).
3. Replace the Battery (if necessary)
  • Sub-steps:
    1. If the battery voltage is below 12.4 volts, consider replacing it.
    2. Remove the battery hold-down bracket using a socket set.
    3. Carefully lift the battery out of the tray and replace it with a new one.
    4. Reconnect the terminals securely.
4. Replace the Starter Motor (if required)
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Disconnect the battery again.
    2. Remove any components obstructing the starter motor (intake ducts, heat shields).
    3. Unbolt the starter motor from its mounting using the socket set.
    4. Disconnect the wiring harness and remove the starter.
    5. Install the new starter in reverse order, ensuring all connections are secure.
    6. Torque the starter bolts to manufacturer specifications (usually around 20-30 Nm).
5. Reconnect Battery and Test
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Start the vehicle to ensure the clicking noise is resolved.
