Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the battery to ensure safety while working on electrical components.
2. Check Transmission Fluid
  • Tools Required: Fluid pump, funnel, transmission fluid dipstick.
  • Check the fluid level using the dipstick; if low, add the appropriate type of transmission fluid as specified in the owner's manual.
  • If the fluid is dark or smells burnt, proceed to the fluid change.
3. Change Transmission Fluid and Filter
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, pan cleaner, new transmission filter and gasket, transmission fluid.
  • Elevate the vehicle using jack stands.
  • Remove the transmission pan bolts and carefully lower the pan.
  • Discard the old fluid and clean the pan thoroughly.
  • Replace the old filter with a new one.
  • Install a new gasket and reattach the pan, torqueing the bolts to the manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Refill with new transmission fluid through the dipstick tube.
4. Inspect and Replace Transmission Solenoids (if necessary)
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, multimeter.
  • Access the transmission solenoids, often located on the valve body.
  • Disconnect the electrical connectors and remove the solenoids.
  • Test the solenoids for resistance using a multimeter; replace if faulty.
  • Reinstall new solenoids and reconnect electrical connectors.
5. Reconnect Battery and Reset TCM
  • Reconnect the battery terminals.
  • Use the OBD-II scanner to reset any transmission-related error codes.
  • Perform a relearn procedure for the TCM if applicable.
