Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts necessary for the repair.
  • Ensure the vehicle is in a safe location with the parking brake engaged.
  • Disconnect the battery negative terminal to prevent electrical shock.
2. Battery Inspection and Replacement
  • Inspect the Battery:

    • Remove the battery cover if applicable.
    • Clean any corrosion from the terminals using a wire brush and a mixture of baking soda and water.
    • Tighten the battery terminals securely.
  • Replace Battery if Necessary:

    • If the battery voltage is low or the battery is more than three years old, replace it.
    • Disconnect the negative terminal first, followed by the positive terminal.
    • Remove the battery hold-down bracket and lift the battery out.
    • Install the new battery in reverse order: position it, secure the hold-down bracket, connect the positive terminal first, then the negative terminal.
3. Starter Motor Testing and Replacement
  • Test Starter Motor:

    • If jump-starting does not work, access the starter motor.
    • Disconnect the wiring harness from the starter motor.
    • Use a multimeter to check for power at the starter motor terminal when the ignition is turned to the start position.
  • Replace Starter Motor if Faulty:

    • Disconnect the battery negative terminal again.
    • Remove the starter motor mounting bolts using a socket set.
    • Carefully remove the starter motor from its mounting and disconnect the power cable.
    • Install the new starter motor by connecting the power cable first and securing it with bolts.
    • Reconnect the battery negative terminal.
