Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and securely supported.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent any electrical issues.
2. Check Fluid Level
  • Access the power steering fluid reservoir.
  • If the fluid is low, top it off with the manufacturer-recommended power steering fluid.
  • Inspect the fluid for contamination; if contaminated, proceed to fluid replacement.
3. Replace Power Steering Fluid
  • Place a drain pan beneath the steering system to catch old fluid.
  • Disconnect the return hose from the power steering pump.
  • Allow old fluid to drain completely, then reconnect the hose.
  • Fill the reservoir with new power steering fluid as per the specifications.
4. Inspect and Replace Power Steering Pump (if necessary)
  • Remove the drive belt from the power steering pump.
  • Disconnect hydraulic lines from the pump.
  • Remove the pump mounting bolts and take out the pump.
  • Install the new pump by reversing the removal steps.
  • Ensure all connections are secure and torque bolts to specification.
5. Bleed the Power Steering System
  • Fill the reservoir to the appropriate level.
  • Start the engine and turn the steering wheel from lock to lock several times to expel air.
  • Check fluid level and top off as necessary.
