Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the parking brake is engaged.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent any electrical issues.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Using a jack, lift the front of the vehicle and secure it on jack stands.
  • Remove the front wheel using a socket set.
3. Remove the Ball Joint
  • Locate the ball joint on the control arm.
  • Remove the cotter pin (if applicable) and the castle nut using a wrench.
  • Use a ball joint separator tool to detach the ball joint from the steering knuckle.
  • If necessary, remove any additional components blocking access to the ball joint (e.g., sway bar links).
4. Install the New Ball Joint
  • Insert the new ball joint into the control arm.
  • Reattach the steering knuckle to the ball joint and secure it with the castle nut.
  • Install a new cotter pin to secure the nut.
  • If removed, reattach any components previously taken off.
5. Reassemble and Lower the Vehicle
  • Reinstall the wheel and tighten the lug nuts to the manufacturer's torque specifications.
  • Lower the vehicle from the jack stands using the jack.
  • Reconnect the battery.
