Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all tools and parts needed for the replacement.
  • Tools Required:
    • Socket set
    • Torque wrench
    • Jack and jack stands
    • Screwdrivers
    • Pliers
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is off.
  • Safety Warning: Always engage the parking brake and use wheel chocks on the opposite wheels.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Loosen the lug nuts on the wheel where the shocks will be replaced.
  • Use a jack to lift the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.
3. Remove Old Shocks
  • Locate the top and bottom mounting points of the shock absorber.
  • For the top mount, remove any covers or brackets if necessary. Use the appropriate socket to remove the nuts securing the shock top.
  • At the bottom, remove the bolts holding the shock to the suspension arm. Use a socket or wrench to unscrew these bolts.
  • Carefully pull the old shock absorber out of its mount.
4. Install New Shocks
  • Take the new shock absorber and position it into the mounting area.
  • Insert the bottom bolt first and secure it with a socket.
  • Move to the top mount and install the nuts, tightening them to the manufacturer's specified torque (check service manual for exact specifications).
  • Ensure that all components are secured and check for proper fitment.
5. Reassemble Vehicle
  • Place the wheel back onto the hub and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle from the jack stands and remove the jack.
  • Tighten the lug nuts to the manufacturer's torque specifications in a crisscross pattern to ensure even tightness.
6. Final Checks
  • Inspect the installation of the shocks for proper alignment and secure fitment.
  • Ensure all tools are accounted for and that there are no loose parts remaining.
