Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Park the vehicle on a flat surface, engage the parking brake, and turn off the engine.

Tools Required:

  • Jack and jack stands
  • Lug wrench
  • Torque wrench
  • Brake caliper tool or C-clamp
  • Brake cleaner
  • Socket set
  • Brake pads
  • Brake grease
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Loosen the lug nuts slightly while the vehicle is still on the ground.
  • Use the jack to lift the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.
3. Remove the Brake Caliper
  • Locate the caliper bolts and remove them using a socket.
  • Carefully slide the caliper off the rotor. Support the caliper with a bungee cord or wire to avoid straining the brake line.
  • Remove the old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
4. Inspect and Replace Brake Pads
  • Check the caliper bracket for any signs of damage or wear.
  • Clean the caliper bracket with brake cleaner.
  • Install the new brake pads into the caliper bracket, ensuring they are properly seated.
  • Apply brake grease to the back of the pads to reduce noise and friction.
5. Compress the Brake Caliper Piston
  • Using the brake caliper tool or C-clamp, carefully compress the piston back into the caliper housing to accommodate the new pads.
  • Ensure the piston is fully retracted before re-installation.
6. Reinstall the Brake Caliper
  • Position the caliper back over the new brake pads.
  • Tighten the caliper bolts to the manufacturer’s specified torque setting (usually around 25-30 Nm).
  • Ensure all components are aligned and secure.
7. Reinstall the Wheel
  • Place the wheel back on and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle from the jack stands and tighten the lug nuts to the manufacturer’s torque specification (usually around 120 Nm).
