Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent any electrical shorts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and secure with wheel chocks.
2. Remove the Oxygen Sensor
  • Locate the oxygen sensor (Bank 1 Sensor 1, typically in the exhaust manifold).
  • Use an oxygen sensor socket or wrench to carefully unscrew the old sensor.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector by pressing the release tab and pulling it apart.
3. Inspect and Clean
  • Inspect the threads on the exhaust manifold for carbon buildup or damage.
  • Clean the threads with a wire brush if necessary.
  • Ensure the new sensor's threads are free of debris.
4. Install the New Oxygen Sensor
  • Apply anti-seize compound to the threads of the new oxygen sensor (do not apply to the sensor tip).
  • Hand-tighten the new sensor into the exhaust manifold, then use the oxygen sensor wrench to secure it (typically 30 Nm torque).
  • Reconnect the electrical connector until it clicks into place.
5. Reconnect the Battery
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal and ensure it is secured.
6. Clear the Codes
  • Use the OBD-II scanner to clear the P0130 code from the vehicle’s computer.
  • Start the engine and allow it to reach operating temperature.
