Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, tire iron, tire pressure gauge, possibly a tire repair kit or a spare tire.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat, stable surface and turn on the hazard lights.
  • Engage the parking brake for safety.
2. Loosen the Lug Nuts
  • Use the tire iron to slightly loosen the lug nuts on the flat tire while the tire is still on the ground. Turn counterclockwise until they are loose, but do not remove them completely yet.
3. Lift the Vehicle
  • Position the jack under the vehicle's jacking point as specified in the owner's manual.
  • Raise the vehicle until the tire is off the ground.
  • Secure the vehicle with jack stands to ensure stability.
4. Remove the Flat Tire
  • Completely remove the loosened lug nuts and place them in a safe location.
  • Carefully remove the flat tire from the wheel hub and set it aside.
5. Inspect and Repair the Tire
  • If the tire has a puncture that is repairable (usually in the tread area), follow the instructions provided with the tire repair kit to patch it.
  • If the tire is irreparable, proceed to install the spare tire.
6. Install the Spare Tire (if applicable)
  • Align the spare tire with the wheel hub and push it onto the hub.
  • Hand-tighten the lug nuts onto the wheel bolts.
7. Lower the Vehicle
  • Remove the jack stands and carefully lower the vehicle back to the ground.
  • Tighten the lug nuts in a crisscross pattern to ensure even pressure.
8. Check Tire Pressure
  • Use a tire pressure gauge to check the pressure of the spare or repaired tire and inflate to the recommended PSI if necessary.
