Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools, including an oil filter wrench and a socket set.
  • Ensure you have the correct oil type (usually BMW Longlife 01 or 01 FE) and oil filter.
2. Check Oil Level
  • Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes.
  • Turn off the engine and wait for a few minutes.
  • Pull out the dipstick, wipe it clean, and reinsert it to check the oil level.
3. Change Oil
  1. Lift Vehicle

    • Use a jack to lift the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
  2. Drain Old Oil

    • Place an oil catch pan under the oil pan.
    • Remove the oil drain plug using a socket wrench and allow the old oil to completely drain.
  3. Replace Oil Filter

    • Use an oil filter wrench to remove the old oil filter.
    • Apply a thin layer of new oil to the rubber gasket of the new oil filter before installing it.
    • Install the new oil filter and tighten it according to specifications.
  4. Add New Oil

    • Replace the oil drain plug and tighten it to the specified torque.
    • Pour the recommended amount of new oil into the engine through the oil fill cap.
  5. Check Oil Level Again

    • Wait a minute for the oil to settle, then check the oil level again with the dipstick. Add oil if necessary.
4. Reset Oil Change Indicator
  • Use the vehicle's onboard computer to reset the oil change indicator light as per the owner's manual instructions.
