Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, transmission fluid pump, fluid catch pan, UV light (if dye is used).
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and secure it with jack stands. Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Remove Transmission Pan
  • Place a fluid catch pan under the transmission pan.
  • Remove the bolts securing the transmission pan using a socket wrench.
  • Carefully lower the pan to avoid spilling fluid and inspect the gasket.
3. Inspect and Replace Gasket/Seals
  • If the gasket is damaged, clean the mating surfaces of the transmission and pan.
  • Apply a new gasket or RTV sealant as per manufacturer specifications.
  • Replace any worn or damaged seals around the transmission.
4. Reattach Transmission Pan
  • Position the transmission pan back onto the transmission.
  • Torque the bolts to the manufacturer’s specifications (typically between 8-10 Nm).
  • Ensure the pan is seated properly to prevent leaks.
5. Refill Transmission Fluid
  • Access the transmission fill point and use a fluid pump to refill the correct type and amount of transmission fluid (consult the owner's manual for specifications).
  • Start the engine and allow it to idle, then cycle through the gears to circulate the fluid.
6. Final Inspection
  • Check for any leaks around the transmission pan and cooler lines after refilling.
  • Reconnect the battery.
