Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts needed for the repair.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and set the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent any electrical issues during repair.
2. Check and Top Off Engine Oil
  • Remove the engine oil filler cap.
  • Using a funnel, add the appropriate type of oil to reach the correct level on the dipstick.
  • Replace the oil filler cap securely.
3. Replace Oil Filter
  • Tools Required: Oil filter wrench, socket set, oil catch pan.
  • Place the oil catch pan under the oil filter.
  • Use the oil filter wrench to remove the old oil filter.
  • Apply a small amount of new oil to the rubber seal of the new filter and install it by hand.
  • Tighten the filter according to the manufacturer's specifications.
4. Replace Oil Pressure Sending Unit (if faulty)
  • Locate the oil pressure sending unit (usually near the oil filter).
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the sending unit.
  • Use a socket wrench to remove the old sending unit.
  • Install the new sending unit and tighten it to the manufacturer's torque specifications.
  • Reconnect the electrical connector.
5. Test Oil Pressure
  • Install an external oil pressure gauge at the oil pressure sending unit location.
  • Start the engine and observe the oil pressure readings.
  • If the readings are within the normal range (usually 25-65 psi at idle), the issue may have been resolved.
