Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, socket set, brake pad gauge, torque wrench, brake cleaner, and safety goggles.
  • Safety Warnings: Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and properly secured before lifting.
2. Remove Wheel
  • Loosen the lug nuts on the wheel using a socket set.
  • Raise the vehicle using a jack and support it with jack stands.
  • Completely remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.
3. Inspect Brake Components
  • Visually inspect the brake pads for wear; they should not be below the minimum thickness (usually around 3mm).
  • Check the rotors for any grooves or uneven wear. If they are scored or warped, they may need resurfacing or replacement.
  • Examine the brake calipers and ensure they are not seized.
4. Replace Brake Pads (if necessary)
  • Remove the caliper bolts using a socket set and carefully take off the caliper.
  • Remove old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
  • Clean the caliper bracket and apply anti-squeal grease to the back of the new brake pads.
  • Install the new brake pads into the caliper bracket.
5. Reassemble Braking System
  • Reattach the brake caliper over the new pads and torque the caliper bolts to manufacturer specifications (typically around 20-30 Nm).
  • Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle and then torque the lug nuts to the specified value (usually around 100-120 Nm).
