Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, lug wrench, 12mm socket, torque wrench, brake cleaner, C-clamp or brake caliper tool.
  • Safety Warnings:
    • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface.
    • Wear safety glasses and gloves.
    • Engage the parking brake.
  1. Park the vehicle securely and remove any hubcaps or wheel covers if applicable.
  2. Loosen the lug nuts on the front wheels slightly without removing them completely.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  1. Use the jack to lift the front of the vehicle.
  2. Secure it with jack stands for safety.
  3. Remove the lug nuts and take off the front wheels.
3. Remove the Brake Caliper
  1. Locate the caliper mounting bolts (usually a 12mm socket).
  2. Remove the bolts and carefully slide the caliper off the rotor.
  3. Support the caliper using a bungee cord or rope to avoid stressing the brake line.
4. Replace the Brake Pads
  1. Remove the old brake pads by sliding them out of the caliper bracket.
  2. Use a C-clamp or brake caliper tool to compress the caliper piston back into the caliper housing to make room for the new pads.
  3. Install the new brake pads into the caliper bracket, ensuring they are seated properly.
5. Reassemble the Brake Components
  1. Reinstall the brake caliper over the new pads and rotor.
  2. Secure the caliper by tightening the mounting bolts to the manufacturer’s specifications (usually around 25-30 Nm).
  3. Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
6. Lower the Vehicle
  1. Remove the jack stands and lower the vehicle back to the ground.
  2. Use the torque wrench to tighten the lug nuts to the manufacturer’s specifications (typically around 120 Nm).
7. Final Checks
  1. Pump the brake pedal several times to ensure the pads seat properly against the rotor.
  2. Check brake fluid level in the reservoir and top off if necessary.
