Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts required for the strut replacement.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Wear safety glasses and gloves for protection.

Tools Required:

  • Jack and jack stands
  • Socket set
  • Torque wrench
  • Strut spring compressor
  • Screwdrivers
  • Pliers
2. Remove the Wheel
  • Loosen the lug nuts on the front or rear wheel where the strut is being replaced.
  • Lift the vehicle using a jack and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the wheel completely.
3. Remove the Strut Assembly
  • Disconnect the brake line bracket from the strut using a socket.
  • Remove the bolts securing the strut to the knuckle using a socket.
  • If applicable, remove any additional components (like sway bar links) connected to the strut.
  • Use a strut spring compressor to compress the coil spring.
  • Remove the upper strut mount bolts located under the hood or inside the trunk, depending on the model.
  • Carefully detach the strut from the vehicle.
4. Install New Strut
  • If reusing the old spring, ensure it is in good condition before transferring it to the new strut.
  • Install the spring onto the new strut and ensure it is properly seated.
  • Attach the upper strut mount to the vehicle, securing it with the appropriate bolts and torque to the manufacturer specifications.
  • Reconnect the strut to the knuckle and secure using the previously removed bolts.
  • Reattach any additional components that were disconnected.
5. Reinstall the Wheel and Lower the Vehicle
  • Place the wheel back onto the hub and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle from the jack stands and remove the jack.
  • Tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque rating.
6. Final Checks
  • Recheck all connections and bolts to ensure everything is secure.
  • Repeat the process on the opposite side if both struts are being replaced.
