Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure you have a safe working environment, with the vehicle parked on a flat surface and the engine cool.
2. Battery Inspection & Replacement
  1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal using a socket wrench.
  2. Remove the positive battery terminal.
  3. Inspect the battery for physical damage or leakage.
  4. If the battery voltage is below 12.4 volts, replace the battery with a new one of the same specifications.
  5. Clean the battery terminals with a wire brush to remove any corrosion.
  6. Reconnect the positive terminal first, followed by the negative terminal.
3. Starter Motor Inspection & Replacement
  1. Locate the starter motor, typically found near the transmission bell housing.
  2. Disconnect the wiring harness and the battery cable from the starter.
  3. Remove starter mounting bolts using a socket set.
  4. Carefully pull the starter motor out of its housing.
  5. Inspect the starter gear and solenoid for damage.
  6. If damaged, install a new starter motor:
    • Position the new starter motor and secure it with mounting bolts to the specified torque (usually around 20-25 Nm).
    • Reattach the wiring harness and battery cable.
  7. Reconnect the battery and test the starting system.
4. Ignition Switch Inspection & Replacement (if necessary)
  1. Remove the steering column cover using a screwdriver.
  2. Disconnect the wiring harness from the ignition switch.
  3. Test the ignition switch for continuity in the 'Start' position.
  4. If faulty, remove the ignition switch from its housing.
  5. Install the new ignition switch by reversing the removal steps.
  6. Reassemble the steering column cover.
