Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Wear safety gloves and goggles for protection.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use a hydraulic floor jack to lift the front or rear of the vehicle, depending on which strut is leaking.
  • Secure the vehicle with jack stands for safety.
3. Remove the Wheel
  • Use a lug wrench to loosen and remove the lug nuts.
  • Take off the wheel to access the strut assembly.
4. Disconnect the Strut
  • Remove the bolts securing the strut to the steering knuckle using a socket and ratchet.
  • Unbolt the strut from the strut mount at the top of the assembly under the hood (may require removal of interior covers).
  • Carefully lower the strut assembly from the vehicle.
5. Install New Strut
  • Position the new strut in place.
  • Secure the top of the strut to the strut mount and torque the bolts to the manufacturer’s specifications (typically around 35-45 Nm for the top mount).
  • Reattach the strut to the steering knuckle and torque the bolts to the specified value (around 100-120 Nm).
6. Reassemble
  • Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle to the ground and then torque the lug nuts to the manufacturer’s specifications (usually around 120-140 Nm).
7. Final Checks
  • Inspect all connections and components for proper installation.
  • Recheck the strut's alignment and loading before driving.
