Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts required for the repair.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the battery to ensure safety during repairs.
2. Raise the Vehicle
  • Use a hydraulic jack to lift the rear of the vehicle.
  • Secure it with jack stands to prevent any accidents.
3. Remove Driveshaft
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench.
  • Remove the bolts securing the driveshaft to the differential and transmission (torque specifications typically between 45-60 Nm).
  • Slide the driveshaft out of the U-joint connections.
4. Inspect and Replace U-Joint
  • Check the U-joint for play by manually moving it; if there is excessive movement, replacement is necessary.
  • Tools Required: U-joint puller, grease gun (if applicable).
  • Remove the retaining clips holding the U-joint in place.
  • Use the U-joint puller to extract the old U-joint from the yoke.
  • Insert the new U-joint, ensuring it is seated properly.
  • Reinstall the retaining clips securely.
5. Reinstall Driveshaft
  • Slide the driveshaft back into position and secure it with the bolts.
  • Torque the bolts to manufacturer specifications (usually between 45-60 Nm).
6. Lower the Vehicle
  • Remove jack stands and lower the vehicle back to the ground.
  • Reconnect the battery.
