Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack and jack stands, wrench set, clean cloth, differential fluid (if necessary).
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and the engine is turned off.
2. Remove Fill Plug
  • Use a proper-sized wrench to carefully unscrew the differential fill plug.
  • Place a clean cloth around the area to catch any spills.
3. Check Fluid Level and Condition
  • Insert a finger into the fill hole to check if the fluid is at the edge of the hole.
  • Visually inspect the fluid for clarity; it should be a clear color without debris.
  • If the fluid is low or dirty, prepare to replace it.
4. Add or Replace Fluid
  • If fluid needs to be added, use a fluid transfer pump to add the appropriate differential fluid until it starts to seep out of the fill hole.
  • If replacing, drain the old fluid first:
    • Remove the drain plug (if equipped) and let the fluid drain completely.
    • Reinstall the drain plug with the correct torque specification.
    • Follow the adding process above.
5. Reinstall Fill Plug
  • Clean the threads of the fill plug and apply new thread sealant if necessary.
  • Reinstall the fill plug and tighten to the manufacturer's torque specification.
