Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and secured with wheel chocks.
  • Wear appropriate safety equipment (gloves and goggles).
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use a hydraulic jack to raise the front of the vehicle.
  • Secure with jack stands to ensure stability.
3. Remove the Wheel
  • Use a lug wrench to remove the wheel nuts.
  • Take off the wheel to access the suspension components.
4. Remove the Ball Joint
  • Disconnect the sway bar link if it obstructs access.
  • Remove any retaining clips or bolts securing the ball joint to the control arm or spindle.
  • Use a ball joint separator tool to gently detach the ball joint from the control arm.
5. Install the New Ball Joint
  • Apply grease to the new ball joint as necessary.
  • Position the new ball joint into the control arm and secure it with the original bolts or new hardware, ensuring they are torqued to the manufacturer's specifications.
  • Reattach the sway bar link if it was removed.
6. Reassemble
  • Replace the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle and then torque the lug nuts to the specified value.
  • Recheck the suspension for any loose components.
