Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all tools and parts needed for the repair.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • If necessary, lift the vehicle using a jack and secure it with jack stands.
2. Remove Old Shock Absorbers
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, ratchet, and possibly a spring compressor.
  • Loosen the nuts on the top and bottom of the shock absorber using a socket set.
  • Remove the bolts securing the bottom of the shock to the lower control arm.
  • Carefully remove the top mounting nuts and take out the shock absorber from the vehicle.
3. Install New Shock Absorbers
  • Tools Required: Torque wrench for reinstallation.
  • Position the new shock absorber in place, ensuring it is aligned correctly.
  • Reattach the top mounting nuts and tighten them to the manufacturer's specified torque settings.
  • Secure the bottom of the shock absorber to the lower control arm using the bolts, torquing them to the recommended specifications.
4. Reassemble and Lower Vehicle
  • Reinstall any components that were removed during the process.
  • Lower the vehicle back to the ground and remove jack stands.
5. Final Checks
  • Inspect all mounting points for tightness and ensure there is no interference with other components.
  • Check the alignment if any suspension components were disturbed during the replacement.
