Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, oil filter wrench, drain pan, funnel, clean rags, new oil filter, new engine oil (if necessary), gloves.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Allow the engine to cool for at least 30 minutes before starting the procedure.
2. Drain Engine Oil
  • Place a drain pan under the oil pan.
  • Remove the oil drain plug using the appropriate socket and allow the old oil to drain completely. Replace the drain plug and tighten it to the manufacturer’s specifications (usually around 25 Nm).
3. Remove Old Oil Filter
  • Use an oil filter wrench to loosen and remove the old oil filter. Expect some residual oil to spill; ensure the drain pan is positioned to catch it.
  • Before installing the new filter, lightly coat the rubber gasket of the new oil filter with fresh engine oil.
4. Install New Oil Filter
  • Screw the new oil filter into place by hand, turning it clockwise until it is snug. Do not overtighten; a quarter turn after contact is generally sufficient.
5. Refill Engine Oil
  • Remove the oil filler cap located on top of the engine.
  • Using a funnel, pour the recommended amount of new engine oil into the engine (check the owner’s manual for the specific capacity).
  • Replace the oil filler cap.
6. Check for Leaks
  • Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes while inspecting for any leaks around the oil filter and drain plug.
  • Turn off the engine and recheck the oil level using the dipstick. Add oil if necessary to reach the correct level.
