Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts needed.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the battery to ensure safety while working on steering components.

Tools Required:

  • Jack and jack stands
  • Socket set
  • Torque wrench
  • Tie rod end puller
  • Alignment tool
  • Pliers
  • Lubricant (optional)
2. Raise the Vehicle
  • Use the jack to lift the front of the vehicle.
  • Securely place jack stands under the vehicle for safety.
3. Remove the Wheel
  • Using the socket set, remove the lug nuts and take off the front wheel to access the tie rods.
4. Disconnect Tie Rods
  • Locate the outer tie rod end and remove the nut securing it to the steering knuckle.
  • Use the tie rod end puller to detach the outer tie rod from the knuckle.
  • For the inner tie rod, use the appropriate socket to remove the securing nut and disconnect it from the steering rack.
5. Install New Tie Rods
  • Thread the new inner tie rod into the steering rack and secure it with the nut.
  • Attach the new outer tie rod to the steering knuckle and tighten the securing nut to the manufacturer’s torque specifications (typically around 50-60 Nm, but verify in the service manual).
6. Reassemble and Lower Vehicle
  • Reinstall the wheel and tighten the lug nuts in a crisscross pattern to ensure even seating.
  • Lower the vehicle back to the ground.
7. Wheel Alignment
  • Perform a wheel alignment to ensure proper steering geometry and handling.
