Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts needed for the repair.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface with the ignition off.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Replace Brake Light Bulbs
  • Remove the rear light assembly:
    • Open the trunk and locate the access panel for the rear light assembly.
    • Unscrew or unclip the access panel (if applicable).
  • Remove the faulty brake light bulb:
    • Twist the bulb holder counterclockwise to release it from the assembly.
    • Pull the bulb straight out and replace it with a new bulb. Use OEM or equivalent quality bulbs.
  • Reassemble the light assembly by reversing the removal steps.
3. Check and Replace the Brake Light Switch
  • Locate the brake light switch, usually mounted near the brake pedal.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the switch.
  • Remove the switch by unscrewing or unbolting it from its mount.
  • Install the new brake light switch by reversing the removal procedure.
  • Reconnect the electrical connector.
4. Inspect Wiring and Fuses
  • Visually inspect the wiring harness for any frayed or damaged wires. Repair or replace as necessary.
  • Check the fuse box for the brake light fuse:
    • Remove the fuse related to the brake lights (consult the owner's manual for the exact location).
    • Replace it with a fuse of the same amperage if it is blown.
