After completing the repair, verify that the issue has been resolved:

  • ✓Test the affected component to ensure it functions correctly
  • ✓Check for any error codes or warning lights
  • ✓Monitor the vehicle for a few days to ensure the issue does not recur

Prevention Tips

To prevent this issue from occurring again:

  • •Follow the manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule

Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Brake fluid
    • Torque wrench
    • Socket set
    • Brake line wrench
    • Vacuum bleeder (optional)
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is off.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent any electrical issues.
2. Check and Refill Brake Fluid
  • Open the hood and locate the master cylinder reservoir.
  • Remove the cap and visually inspect the brake fluid level. If low, top it up with the recommended brake fluid type (DOT 4 for BMWs).
  • Replace the cap securely.
3. Inspect Brake Lines and Components
  • Visually inspect all brake lines for cracks, corrosion, or leaks.
  • Check the condition of the brake pads and rotors. Replace if worn beyond specifications.
4. Bleed the Brakes
  • Start with the brake farthest from the master cylinder (usually the right rear).
  • Attach a clear hose to the bleeder valve on the brake caliper and place the other end in a container.
  • Open the bleeder valve and have an assistant press the brake pedal several times, then hold it down.
  • Close the bleeder valve, then release the pedal.
  • Repeat the process until the fluid runs clear without bubbles, then move to the next wheel, following the correct order (right rear, left rear, right front, left front).
  • Ensure to check and refill brake fluid as necessary during the process.
5. Check Brake Booster Function
  • With the engine running, press the brake pedal several times to deplete the vacuum.
  • Hold the pedal down and start the engine; the pedal should sink slightly if the booster is functioning correctly.
  • If not, replace the brake booster.
