Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Tools Required:
    • Jack and jack stands
    • Lug wrench
    • Brake caliper tool
    • Torque wrench
    • Brake cleaner
    • C-clamp or caliper compression tool
  • Parts Required:
    • New brake caliper (if replacement is necessary)
    • Brake pads (if worn)
    • Brake fluid (if needed)
  • Ensure vehicle is parked on a level surface with the parking brake engaged.
2. Remove the Wheel
  • Loosen the lug nuts slightly while the vehicle is on the ground.
  • Safely jack up the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
  • Completely remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.
3. Remove the Caliper
  • Remove the caliper bolts using the appropriate socket size.
  • Carefully slide the caliper off the rotor. Do not let it hang by the brake line; support it with a bungee cord or similar tool.
4. Inspect and Clean
  • Inspect the caliper for any signs of damage or corrosion.
  • Clean the caliper with brake cleaner to remove dirt and debris.
  • Check the caliper piston for proper movement; if it is stuck, it may need to be replaced.
5. Replace or Rebuild the Caliper
  • If the caliper is irreparable, install a new caliper:

    • Ensure the mounting surface is clean.
    • Install the new caliper in reverse order of removal.
    • Tighten caliper bolts to the manufacturer's specifications (usually around 25-35 Nm).
  • If rebuilding, replace the piston seal and lubricate with brake grease before reinstallation.

6. Reassemble Components
  • Reinstall the brake pads if they are in good condition; otherwise, replace them.
  • Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
7. Lower the Vehicle
  • Lower the vehicle off the jack stands and torque the lug nuts to the manufacturer's specifications (typically 100-120 Nm).
