Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Wheel chock, jack, jack stands, lug wrench, OBD-II scanner, brake cleaner, clean rags.
  • Safety Warnings: Always engage the parking brake and use wheel chocks before lifting the vehicle. Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface.
2. Remove Wheel
  1. Loosen the lug nuts slightly while the vehicle is on the ground.
  2. Raise the vehicle using a jack and support it securely with jack stands.
  3. Remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.
3. Inspect and Clean
  1. Clean the area around the caliper and rotor using brake cleaner to remove dust and debris.
  2. Inspect the caliper for physical damage or corrosion.
  3. Check the brake pads for even wear; replace if they’re worn unevenly or below the manufacturer's specifications.
4. Replace Caliper (if necessary)
  1. Remove the brake caliper:
    • Unbolt the caliper bracket bolts using a socket wrench.
    • Carefully slide the caliper off the rotor and suspend it with a wire or bungee to avoid stress on the brake line.
  2. Install the new caliper:
    • Apply brake grease to the caliper slides (if applicable).
    • Position the new caliper over the rotor and secure it with the caliper bracket bolts. Torque the bolts to manufacturer specifications (check service manual for exact torque values).
  3. Reconnect brake line (if caliper was replaced):
    • Ensure the brake line is securely attached to the new caliper and properly torque the fitting.
5. Reassemble and Test
  1. Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  2. Lower the vehicle back to the ground and torque the lug nuts to the manufacturer’s specifications.
  3. Pump the brake pedal several times to seat the brake pads and ensure proper operation.
