Solution
1. Preparation
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent any electrical shorts.
  • Relieve fuel system pressure by removing the fuel pump fuse and starting the engine until it stalls.
2. Remove the Fuel Pump
  • Tools Required: Socket set, screwdrivers, fuel line disconnect tool
  • Locate the access panel for the fuel pump (usually under the rear seat or in the trunk).
  • Remove the access panel using a screwdriver.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector and fuel lines from the fuel pump (use a fuel line disconnect tool if necessary).
  • Unscrew the retaining ring and carefully remove the fuel pump assembly from the tank.
3. Inspect and Replace
  • Inspect the fuel pump for damage or wear. If faulty, replace it with a new unit.
  • Use a new O-ring for sealing when installing the new fuel pump.
  • Reinstall the fuel pump assembly into the tank and secure it with the retaining ring.
4. Reconnect Components
  • Reattach the fuel lines and electrical connector securely.
  • Replace the access panel.
  • Reconnect the battery.
5. Test the System
  • Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position (do not start) to prime the fuel system and check for leaks.
  • Start the engine to ensure proper operation of the new fuel pump.
