Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent any electrical issues.
  • Allow the engine to cool before starting work.
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, timing chain tool kit, oil filter wrench, multimeter.
2. Remove Engine Cover
  • Unscrew and remove the engine cover.
  • Carefully disconnect any sensors or wiring harnesses attached to the cover.
3. Drain Engine Oil
  • Place a drain pan under the oil pan.
  • Remove the oil drain plug and allow the oil to completely drain.
  • Replace the drain plug once done.
4. Remove Timing Chain Components
  • Remove the front timing chain cover by loosening the bolts in a crisscross pattern to avoid warping.
  • Take out the timing chain tensioner and guides.
  • Inspect and replace them as necessary.
5. Replace Timing Chain
  • Align the engine to TDC (Top Dead Center) on the timing marks.
  • Remove the old timing chain and install the new timing chain, ensuring it is properly aligned with the timing marks.
  • Reinstall the tensioner and guides, ensuring they are secure.
6. Reassemble Engine
  • Reattach the timing chain cover and torque bolts to the manufacturer’s specifications (exact torque values should be referenced from the repair manual).
  • Reinstall the engine cover and reconnect any sensors or wiring harnesses.
  • Replace the oil filter and refill the engine with new oil as per specifications.
