Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack and jack stands, lug wrench, torque wrench, brake pad thickness gauge, calipers, and basic hand tools.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the battery to avoid any electrical issues while working on the brakes.
  • Allow the vehicle to cool down if it has been driven recently.
2. Raise the Vehicle
  • Use a lug wrench to loosen the lug nuts on the wheel where brake replacement is needed.
  • Lift the vehicle using a jack and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the wheel completely.
3. Remove Old Brake Components
  • Locate the caliper and remove the caliper bolts using the appropriate socket.
  • Carefully slide the caliper off the brake rotor. Support it with a bungee cord or similar tool to avoid straining the brake line.
  • Remove the old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
4. Inspect and Replace Parts
  • Check the brake rotor for damage. If scored or excessively worn, replace it.
  • If replacing the brake pads, compress the caliper piston using a C-clamp or brake caliper tool to make space for the new pads.
  • Install new brake pads into the caliper bracket.
  • Reattach the caliper over the new pads and tighten the caliper bolts to manufacturer specifications. (Refer to vehicle manual for torque values.)
5. Reassemble and Lower Vehicle
  • Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle from the jack stands and torque the lug nuts to the specified value.
  • Reconnect the battery.
