Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools: socket set, multimeter, flathead screwdriver, and replacement bulb.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the ignition is off.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent any electrical accidents.
2. Replace the Brake Light Bulb
  • Remove the rear light assembly:
    1. Open the trunk and locate the access panel for the rear light assembly.
    2. Use a flathead screwdriver to carefully pry open the access panel.
    3. Unscrew any bolts holding the light assembly in place and gently pull the assembly out.
  • Replace the bulb:
    1. Twist the bulb holder counterclockwise to remove it from the assembly.
    2. Pull out the old bulb and insert the new bulb into the holder.
    3. Reinstall the bulb holder into the assembly and twist clockwise to secure it.
3. Check and Replace the Brake Light Fuse
  • Locate the fuse box:
    1. Refer to the owner’s manual for the exact location of the rear brake light fuse.
  • Inspect the fuse:
    1. Remove the fuse using a fuse puller or pliers.
    2. Check if the wire inside the fuse is intact or broken; replace with the same amperage fuse if necessary.
4. Test the Brake Light Switch
  • Locate the brake light switch:
    1. Find the switch mounted on the brake pedal.
  • Test the switch:
    1. Disconnect the electrical connector from the switch.
    2. Using a multimeter, check for continuity when the pedal is pressed. If there’s no continuity, replace the switch.
5. Reassemble and Test
  • Reconnect all components:
    1. Reinstall the rear light assembly and secure it with screws.
    2. Reattach the access panel.
  • Reconnect the battery and test the brake light by pressing the brake pedal.
