Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal for safety.
2. Inspect and Replace Power Steering Fluid
  • Locate the power steering reservoir.
  • Remove the cap and check the fluid level; if low, top it up with the recommended fluid type.
  • If the fluid is contaminated, drain the old fluid using a siphon pump.
  • Refill with new power steering fluid and replace the reservoir cap.
3. Inspect and Replace CV Joints
  • Raise the vehicle securely on jack stands.
  • Remove the wheel to access the CV joint.
  • Inspect the CV boot for tears or grease leakage. If damaged, replace the CV joint:
    1. Remove the axle nut with a socket and breaker bar.
    2. Disconnect any retaining clips or bolts securing the joint.
    3. Pull the CV joint out of the transmission or differential.
    4. Install the new CV joint, ensuring proper alignment and securing it with clips.
4. Check and Replace Steering Components
  • Inspect the steering linkage for any worn or damaged parts.
  • If the steering rack is found to be faulty, replace it:
    1. Disconnect the steering column from the rack.
    2. Remove the tie rod ends from the knuckles.
    3. Unbolt the steering rack from its mountings.
    4. Install the new steering rack in reverse order and torque bolts to manufacturer specifications.
5. Inspect and Replace Suspension Components
  • Check control arms and bushings for wear. Replace any that are damaged:
    1. Remove the wheel and associated hardware.
    2. Unbolt the control arm from the chassis and the knuckle.
    3. Install the new control arm, securing it with the proper torque specifications.
