Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the battery to ensure safety while working on the brake system.
2. Remove Wheel
  • Use a jack to lift the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the lug nuts using a socket wrench and take off the wheel.
3. Inspect and Replace Brake Rotors
  • Inspect Rotors: Use a micrometer to measure rotor thickness. If below specifications, proceed to replace.
  • Remove Caliper: Unbolt the brake caliper using the correct socket size. Support it with a wire hanger to avoid stress on the brake line.
  • Remove Rotors: Unscrew any retaining screws and pull the rotor off the hub. If stuck, gently tap with a rubber mallet.
  • Install New Rotors: Clean the hub surface. Place the new rotor onto the hub and secure it with retaining screws.
4. Check and Replace Brake Pads
  • Inspect Brake Pads: Check for wear indicators and replace if worn unevenly or below minimum thickness.
  • Remove Brake Pads: Slide the old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
  • Install New Brake Pads: Apply brake grease to the backing of new pads. Install into the caliper bracket.
5. Reassemble and Test
  • Reattach the brake caliper over the new pads and torque bolts to manufacturer specifications.
  • Reinstall the wheel and lug nuts, and torque to proper specifications.
  • Reconnect the battery.
