Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools: dipstick, OBD-II scanner, socket set, oil filter wrench, clean rags, and a new oil filter.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is cool.
2. Check and Top Up Engine Oil
  • Remove the dipstick and wipe it clean with a rag.
  • Reinsert the dipstick and remove it again to check the oil level.
  • If the oil level is low, add the appropriate type of engine oil (consult the owner’s manual for specifications) until it reaches the correct level.
  • Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes, then check the oil level again.
3. Replace Oil Filter
  • Place an oil catch pan under the oil filter.
  • Use an oil filter wrench to remove the old oil filter.
  • Clean the filter mounting surface on the engine.
  • Apply a thin layer of new oil to the rubber gasket of the new oil filter.
  • Install the new oil filter by hand until snug, then tighten it an additional 3/4 turn.
4. Check Oil Pressure Sender
  • Locate the oil pressure sender unit, typically found near the oil filter.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector and inspect for corrosion.
  • Use a multimeter to test the resistance of the sender. If faulty, replace it with a new unit.
5. Final Checks
  • Start the engine and check for any leaks around the oil filter and oil pressure sender.
  • Monitor the oil pressure gauge if equipped to ensure proper pressure is being maintained.
