After completing the repair, verify that the issue has been resolved:

  • ✓Test the affected component to ensure it functions correctly
  • ✓Check for any error codes or warning lights
  • ✓Monitor the vehicle for a few days to ensure the issue does not recur

Prevention Tips

To prevent this issue from occurring again:

  • •Follow the manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule
  • •Address warning signs early before they develop into major issues
  • •Use quality parts and fluids recommended for your vehicle
  • •Keep detailed records of all repairs and maintenance

Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts. Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Tools Required:
    • Jack and jack stands
    • Socket set
    • Torque wrench
    • Strut spring compressor
    • Pliers
    • Screwdriver set
  • Safety Warnings:
    • Always wear safety glasses.
    • Disconnect the battery if working on electrical components.
    • Allow the vehicle to cool before beginning work.
2. Remove Wheel
  • Loosen the lug nuts on the front wheel using a socket.
  • Jack up the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the wheel completely to access the strut assembly.
3. Remove Strut Assembly
  • Remove the brake line clips and any electrical connectors attached to the strut.
  • Unscrew the top strut mount nuts located in the engine bay (you may need to remove the engine cover for access).
  • Remove the lower strut bolts connecting the strut to the steering knuckle using a socket and wrench.
  • Carefully detach the strut from the vehicle.
4. Replace Strut Mount
  • Using a strut spring compressor, compress the coil spring attached to the strut.
  • Once the spring is compressed, remove the top strut mount nut to detach the mount from the strut.
  • Replace the old strut mount with the new one, ensuring proper orientation.
  • Reassemble the strut assembly by reattaching the coil spring and securing it with the top nut.
5. Reinstall Strut Assembly
  • Position the strut assembly back into the vehicle, aligning it with the steering knuckle and top mount.
  • Secure the lower strut bolts and torque them to the manufacturer's specifications (typically around 85 Nm).
  • Reattach the top strut mount nuts and torque them as specified (usually around 25 Nm).
6. Reinstall Wheel and Lower Vehicle
  • Place the wheel back onto the hub and hand tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle off the jack stands and onto the ground.
  • Torque the lug nuts to the manufacturer's specifications (generally 100 Nm).
