Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather the following tools and parts: socket set, jack and jack stands, brake cleaner, torque wrench, new brake pads, and new rotors (if needed).
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and secure it with wheel chocks.
2. Raise the Vehicle
  • Use a jack to lift the rear of the vehicle.
  • Securely place jack stands under the vehicle to ensure stability.
3. Remove the Wheel
  • Use a socket set to remove the lug nuts and take off the rear wheel.
4. Remove the Brake Caliper
  • Locate the caliper mounting bolts and use the socket set to remove them.
  • Carefully slide the caliper off the rotor and support it using a bungee cord or rope (do not let it hang by the brake line).
5. Replace Brake Pads
  • Remove the old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
  • Clean the caliper bracket with brake cleaner.
  • Install the new brake pads into the bracket, ensuring they are seated properly.
6. Inspect and Replace Rotor
  • If the rotor is damaged or worn beyond specifications, remove the rotor by unscrewing the retaining screws (if applicable) and sliding it off the hub.
  • Install the new rotor, ensuring it's flush against the hub.
7. Reinstall Caliper
  • Compress the caliper piston using a caliper tool to accommodate the new pads.
  • Reattach the caliper over the new pads and rotor, securing it with the mounting bolts.
  • Torque the caliper bolts to the manufacturer’s specifications (usually around 25-35 Nm).
8. Reinstall Wheel
  • Place the wheel back onto the hub and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle from the jack stands and then tighten the lug nuts to the manufacturer’s specifications (usually around 100 Nm).
